What are clear aligners?

Ventura clear aligners are custom created for your teeth from flexible, transparent plastic. We recommend clear aligners for patients with minor spacing issues or mild to moderate teeth crowding. If you have severe orthodontic problems, like extensive teeth crowding or a major bite or palate issue, you may require more extensive treatment by an orthodontist.

Preparing your teeth for Clear Aligners

We’ll conduct an examination to confirm that you’re a good candidate for clear aligners. Then, we use innovative technology to produce your aligner trays.

Digital impressions

Digital impressions are an accurate, fast option for taking a 3D model of your mouth. We use high-quality scanners to produce 3D recordings and images of your teeth.

3D printing

3D printing technology uses your scans from the digital impressions to produce your clear aligners. This technology helps us make aligners quickly, eliminating long waiting periods and multiple trips to the dentist.

Wearing your Clear Aligners

We will fit you for multiple clear aligners: as your teeth move, you’ll need a new aligner that addresses these changes in your teeth. Most patients switch to a new aligner every one week for the duration of their treatment.

You need to wear your aligner for 20 to 22 hours a day for optimal results. This means that you should wear your aligner anytime you aren’t eating or brushing and flossing your teeth.

What happens after you get clear aligners?

Your aligners will move your teeth a little bit at a time. Most patients wear clear aligners between 6 and 24 months, but if your issues are minor or you’ve previously had traditional braces, you may have a shorter treatment time.

Once you’ve completed your treatment period for clear aligners in Ventura, you’ll wear a retainer to prevent your teeth from shifting from their new positions. It’s extremely important to wear your retainer for 20 to 22 hours per day for the first 2 months after treatment so that your bone can solidify your teeth into their new positions. After that, you will wear your retainers at night only for life.

It’s also easy to care for your clear aligners and retainers. Clean them daily with a soft-bristled brush and a mild dish soap or product designed for cleaning aligners, retainers, and other oral appliances. Avoid using toothpaste on your aligners and retainers because it is too abrasive and can damage them.

What are the benefits of clear aligners?

Clear aligners in Ventura have multiple benefits that make them a favorable alternative to metal braces:

You can remove your aligners to eat and care for your teeth

Though you need to wear your aligners most of the time, you’re allowed to remove them to eat or to brush and floss your teeth. You don’t need to change your diet or snack habits with clear aligners in Ventura, and it’s faster and easier to maintain your dental hygiene habits.

Clear aligners are more comfortable

Many patients who use metal braces find that the braces’ components rub and scrape the inside of their mouths. The flexible plastic that we use for Ventura clear aligners is comfortable to wear and won’t cut or irritate your mouth.

Your aligners are invisible

The aligner’s clear plastic is practically invisible. Your aligners won’t detract from your smile, and no one will even know that you’re undergoing treatment to improve your smile.

Clear aligners in Ventura are a popular treatment for patients who want to straighten their teeth and enhance their smile. Patients often prefer clear aligners because they have benefits not associated with conventional braces.
